About the Sensible Traveler

Dear Readers,

Most travel blogs are written by individuals who travel for a living BUT professional travel bloggers are often paid to travel, don’t have to balance the demands of a 40 hour work week, taking the kids to dance lessons and keeping the home in good enough shape that the neighbors don’t start talking badly about it. Professional bloggers take amazing photos and often paint unrealistic or unhelpful images of what’s realistically possible for the average traveler.

We started The Sensible Traveler to help you maximize travel (and you should!) when you can squeeze it into your busy life. This means we’re going to tell you which places to prioritize visiting over other places, tips for keeping costs down and quality up when you travel, and tricks for squeezing the most travel in your life when reasonably possible. We’re doing this all based on our experience of working demanding jobs/raising a family, but also prioritizing travel when we can. While we may share some photos, we’re not here to show you how Instagrammable a place is to visit (plenty of others do that) but focus on giving you information you can use to maximize your travel.

Ultimately, we’d like this to become a fun community of people sharing ideas that allow them to excel in their personal/professional lives while maximizing travel.
